  2. Buddhist Monuments at Sanchi: Sanchi, hosts several Buddhist monuments, the most prominent being the ‘Great Stupa at Sanchi’ , the oldest stone structure in India that was originally commissioned by the emperor Ashoka the Great in the 3rd century BCE.
  3. The Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka: These rock shelters exhibit earliest traces of human lives. Numerous Stone Age rock paintings is visible in these rock shelters. The word Bhimbetka has been said to be based on Bhimbaithka, meaning “sitting host to Bhima”, the hero-deity from the epic Maharabharata.

Panchmarhi, a promiment hill station in the state, is a verdant gem of MP and situated on the large plateau in Mahadeo hills of Satpura ranges. It’s called the “Queen of Satpura”. An attractive hill resort girdled by the Satpura ranges, it provides absolute tranquility.

Ujjain is a major holy city for the Hindus and hosts the Kumbh Mela, attracting countless pilgrims, every 12 years.

Indore is a prominent urban centre, a commercial hub and a bustling metropolis in the state.
